Wednesday was a rough day for me.
It’s Thursday nights like this one, that make the Wednesdays worth it.

Brittany Valentine is a backyard breeder who knows nothing about the field. I bought a Newfoundland puppy from her this summer and what should have been the best thing, turned out to be worst experience of my life.
Her male dog(stud) was less than 2 years old when he was bred for their first liter. Which means his hip and heart guarantees are lies, because you can only verify that information after the stud is 2 years old. He is also a grey male, which means he can pass on alopecia, a common genetic defect in recessive colors such as grey and landseer.
My dog was diagnosed, by two different Vets, with alopecia. His ear fur and the fur on top of his head is so thin you can see the skin through it. Brittany agreed to give half my money back, for selling me a dog with alopecia, with out informing me prior.
Then she receded her refund. Brittany Valentine said(this is a direct quote),”Why would I give you your money back, when I can get you to return him for full price and then sell him to somebody else for full price?” ……..Wow.
So in conclusion PLEASE DO NOT EVER BUY A NEWFOUNDLAND FROM VALENTINE NEWFS IN INDIANA. Brittany Valentine is dishonest, and doesn’t care about the health of her puppies, she’s in it for the money.
8:30am Arrive at home. Kilgore conks right out on his puppy bed.
10:00am He wakes up. Paces around the room. Wants outside for 15 mins, then inside for 15mins, then outside etc. He jumps up on the couch to snuggle and immediately jumps down when his bottom touches the cushion, does this at least 3 times. I figured the pain medication wore off. Won’t let us anywhere near his backside. I get glimpses of it. There are still balls there and they are HUGE and red.
1:00pm We called the Vet around and they said swelling is normal. The kind of procedure they did takes out the testicles, but leaves the sack of skin surrounding them. The sack will be swollen, but eventually go down and the skin will shrink back up into their body.
3:00pm Kilgore is sooo tired. His puppy eyes droop and close. He sways, fighting sleep, fighting laying down. This behavior has been going on since noon-ish, it would be really cute if I didn’t know the cause. Dustin calls the Vet AGAIN. They have free pain medication samples. Kilgore takes one.
8:00pm I get home from the Y. Kilgore comes reluctantly to greet me from the kitchen or bedroom, I couldn’t tell. I also didn’t know if he slept between 5 when Dustin went to work and 8 when I got off.
10:45pm I have been icing his area on and off for the past almost 3 hours. He is so tired, we’re both tired. I can’t hold the bag and hold him up at the same time. He’s over 100lbs. Dustin gets done at 11, so hopefully we can each hold an end and finally let Kilgore get some sleep.
So we’ll probably be up all night. If anyone has any advice it’s very wanted and welcome.
You guys have no idea how happy I am to come home from my night run and find this sleeping puppy.
This face is why I worry so much.
Sorry for all the puppy spam lately.
Lilacs blooming early this year. I guess that’s what happens when winter feels like spring, and spring feels like summer.
I don’t know if it’s the warmer weather, but I’ve been able to hold the ugly thoughts in my head at bay. I used to hate walking Kilgore by myself and now I cherish our morning walks alone. We’ll have to go earlier in the morning, as this hotter weather is not the best temperature for a Canadian puppy.
I want my hair the color of this dog’s fur. It will happen by the end of May.
